CALL FOR POETRY FOR FALL/WINTER 2024 JOURNAL

SUBMIT YOUR POEMS FOR THE WINTER 2024 JOURNAL

No sooner do we finish one journal we begin with the next one. We are now accepting poetry until 15 October. Accepted poems are posted on our current issue poetry page, in a freee-book, and in a published print journal, The Virginia Writers Project. Submission guidelines are provided below:

1. You may submit up to six poems, or six pages. Please submit poetry in units of 2, 4, 6, etc. unless otherwise requested by the poetry editor.

2. Format: Microsoft Word, 12 pt. Times New Roman and single spaced. Please, only one poem per page. Prepare your poems in one Word document and send that one document to the Poetry Editor. Also, provide the Title in upper/lower case and then your name, in upper/lower case, as you wish for it to be presented in the Journal, directly below the title.

3. Do not submit digital art, etc. to accompany the poem(s). We do not blend imagery with poetry because your poetry will present the mental imagery for the reader.

4. There is no requested theme for the poetry you submit. While we are hopeful some poetry will be about Virginia, it can also be about most any other subject. Taboo subjects are obscenity, hate-speech, and dogmatic rhetoric.

5. Send your poetry to Ray Griffin, Poetry Editor, at sagepoet@mindspring.com . When your poetry has been reviewed, you will be contacted with a draft proof indicating questions, suggestions, etc. No poetry will be published without the consent of the poet.

6. Poets retain the copyright for their poetry. The poet is, by submitting his/her poetry, is granting Virginia Writers Project the right to punish your poems, but our rights do not go beyond that point.

7. Questions? Please feel free to email questions, concerns, etc. that you may have to

We at Virginia Writer’s Project look forward to hearing from you and reviewing your poetry. We are always delighted to present good poetry in our journals.

Sincerely,

Ray Griffin, Poetry Editor
