Call for Submissions: Virginia Writers Project Winter 2024 Journal

Attention all writers! The Virginia Writers Project is excited to announce a call for submissions for our forthcoming Winter 2024 journal. We are seeking compelling nonfiction, history, legacy essays, and short fiction pieces that showcase your unique voice and perspective and hopefully tell some of the Virginia story as well.


Submission Guidelines

  • Format: Please submit your work as a double-spaced MS Word document (docx or doc) saved with your title and name as the file name (e.g., TITLE-AUTHOR NAME).

  • Page Setup: Use 8.5" x 11" page size with 1" margins.

  • Font: Preferred font is 12 pt Times New Roman.

  • Word Limit: Submissions should not exceed 3,500 words.

  • Cover Letter: Include a brief cover letter and a 75-word bio with your submission.

Nonfiction, History, and Legacy Essays

For nonfiction, history, and legacy essays, please email your submissions to John Nicolay at nicolay0211@gmail.com.

Short Fiction

For short fiction, please email your submissions to Deidra Lovegren at lovegren.deidra@gmail.com.

Deadline

The submission period ends on December 1st, 2024. Please note that only one submission per writer is allowed during this period.
